The biggest event in Old Ottawa East is back this year for June 14th and 15th – be sure not to miss it!
We are kicking off festivities this year with an open-air screening of Hidden Figures in Springhurst Park, beginning at 9:00 p.m – come down to the park, bring your lawn chair and enjoy this family feature film about three African-American female mathematicians for NASA, tasked with calculating the momentous launch of astronaut John Glenn into orbit, and guaranteeing his safe return. Dorothy Vaughan, Mary Jackson, and Katherine Gobels Johnson crossed all gender, race, and professional lines while their brilliance and desire to dream big, beyond anything ever accomplished before by the human race, firmly cemented them in U.S. history as true American heroes.
Movie Night is presented in partnership with Sandy Hill Community Health Center.
Saturday will see Main Street closed for Old Ottawa East’s biggest annual block party, where there will be live music by the Stan Clarke Orchestra, a BBQ, bouncy castles and obstacle courses, a balloon twister, Let’s Talk Science, a fire truck, food trucks and more! Don’t miss out on the fun, come and join us from 10:00 a.m to 2:00 p.m from Hazel to Herridge for a day full of family activities, food, and fun!
The Main Event Garage Sale will also take place on Saturday from 8:00 a.m to noon throughout Old Ottawa East – residents are welcome to set up their own sale, and all are welcome to peruse the sales! Come on down and make a day out of the sale and festival throughout Old Ottawa East.
