New Art Classes in OOE!

CAG is excited to add the following two new art classes to our weekday programming at the Old Town Hall.

FIGURE Drawing

Come join this weekly gathering and practice your figure drawing skills while learning and sharing with your fellow artists. A model is organized each week for the group. The model poses in the natural form, without clothing. Participants work in the medium of their own choice and provides their own materials. Easels are available on a first come, first served basis. There is no instructor in this workshop. Learning is in the doing and the sharing among participants. Beginners as well as experienced artists are most welcome. This is a well established group that previously met at NECTAR (Crichton Community Centre) and is coordinated by Old Ottawa East resident and respected artist, John Jarrett.

  • Sally Bender Art
Samples of Sally Benders' own work - "Painting a Special Place"

Instructor: Sally Bender has always had a love of creating art. Sally pursued creating art more intensely after getting dedicated studio space at Above Ground Studios 5 years ago. She creates art using a loose, realistic style to capture the beauty, energy or feeling in a moment. Although mostly self-taught, Sally has consistently taken art courses including at the University of Ottawa, Ontario College of Art, Ottawa School of Art and private workshops with artists she admires. She presently teaches a course on portraiture at the Glebe Community Centre. Her work has been shown at That’s Life annual exhibit, Above Ground Studio open house, the Red-Handed Art Show, last year’s Arteast’s Mosaic show and most recently the 10th Annual Cyclelogik show this past December. She has paintings in art collections in Canada and Europe.
