MAIN Event volunteers

We look forward to warmer days, greener lawns and growing gardens. For many years the beginning of summer has been marked by The Main Event. It’s a day where we can get out, meet our neighbours, enjoy the BBQ and watch with wonder at how long the kids can bounce in a castle.

The Main Event
Saturday, June TBD
10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m., Main Street from Hazel to Clegg
Main Street will be closed from Clegg to Hazel for Old Ottawa East's biggest & best ever block party - you do not want to miss this one!!
Wagon rides, Main Farmers Market, children’s games, bouncy castles, live music, BBQ, market sale, food trucks and more.

This year, why not make more than an appearance at The Main Event? The Community Activities Group of Old Ottawa East (CAG) coordinates the event with the help of volunteers – and we can’t do it without you!
You can choose from an impressive array of opportunities, from flipping burgers to setting up tents, from inflating balloons to collapsing tables – we have it all and we can find something for you.
So don’t just show up this year – show up, help us out and enjoy the day with the satisfaction of having been involved in an event that is enjoyed by so many.

WEEKLY BBQ volunteers

Volunteers are needed each week for our summer BBQs.

YOUTH Volunteers:

CAG invites applications from youth volunteers for seasonal events and weekly summer BBQs as well as our park, camp and after school programs. We welcome the opportunity to support our community youth in gaining “job” experience in this way – a great addition to a resume. Can be applied to high school community service hours. Suitable for mature youth in Grade 9 and up.
Youth should be advised that we generally suggest that youth gain some experience in other volunteer roles with CAG before volunteering in camps, after school or other CAG programs.
Closing date: Open
