Brantwood Field House Revitalization Project

Imagine...

Field House
Imagine a place where children’s playgroups can meet. A space where your kids can be cared for in an after-school program. A home-base for summer day camps. A location for weekly bridge nights or art classes. A site that allows for programming in connection with the park’s unique location along the Rideau River and the Rideau River Nature Trail. A facility that can accommodate birthday parties. Imagine all of this and more, located just steps from you in Brantwood Park!

The Brantwood Park Field House Revitalization Project

The Brantwood Park field house is located in Brantwood Park, the anchor of recreational activities in Old Ottawa East. In the summer, the park attracts residents due to its picturesque setting along the Rideau River and its wide range of recreational facilities such as the tennis courts, a football field, baseball diamonds, a wading pool, a basketball court and the playground equipment. During the winter months, the park is home to one of the most popular ice skating rinks in the city.

The field house, located adjacent to the wading pool, is currently only used when the pool and rink are open. In the past, it has been used for playgroups but the space has fallen into a state of disrepair and is no longer suitable for that purpose. A reconfiguration and modernization of the space is required to make the space more user-friendly and allow multiple groups to use the building at the same time. The installation of new security features will enhance the safety of the park. Separate exterior entrances will make the washrooms accessible to park users during programming hours. And of particular note, renovating the field house would allow an expansion of programming in Brantwood Park by the Community Activities Group of Old Ottawa East (CAG) – programming that would be of interest to not only kids and their parents but to all age groups.

Brantwood Park – a jewel in Old Ottawa East - A message from CAG's Executive Director

Field House
Many of us already know what a jewel we have in Brantwood Park. In fact, it’s why many of us choose to live in Old Ottawa East. But why not make a good thing even better?

In partnership with the City of Ottawa, we are embarking on a fundraising initiative to revitalize the Brantwood Park field house.

Just imagine what it could mean for you. A renovated field house could be used for an after-school program for your kids. Or you could enrol your child in a soccer day-camp program using the field house as the base. Or you could become part of a bridge group there, or an art class or nature course. Or perhaps the field house would make the ideal spot for a special event. The possibilities are endless.

The Community Activities Group of Old Ottawa East (CAG) has over thirty years of experience in providing the residents of Old Ottawa East with high-quality programming, recreation and special event opportunities that are local, affordable, inclusive and of interest to all members of the community. We are a voluntary, not for profit, community-based organization that works in partnership with the City of Ottawa, and we run approximately 40 programs throughout the year. We are continually looking for opportunities to make our community an ever better place to live in, and the revitalization of the Brantwood Park field house is a prime example of that.

Take a moment to think about what Brantwood Park means to you… And consider joining us in this exciting initiative.

Sincerely, Carol Workun, Executive Director, Community Activities Group of Ottawa East (CAG)
